Recipient Of Service Award Thanks INTERRA for Engineering Support With Jane Byrne Circle Interchange

BOLINGBROOK, IL – INTERRA, Inc., was recently shown appreciation for their services during construction to the Jane Byrne Circle Interchange Flyover Bridge in Chicago, Illinois which supports 400,000 daily motorists.

OMEGA was named the recipient of the 2017 Illinois Department of Transportation Consultant Exceptional Service Award for construction engineering and thanked INTERRA for their expertise work during the project.

The Jane Byrne Circle Interchange Flyover Bridge in Chicago, Ill. was recognized by IDOT and the award was presented at the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) at the Illinois Spring Meeting and Awards Luncheon in Peoria, Ill. As a result of the completion of the interchange project, more than 146 million annual motorists travel and now experience a safer interchange, in one of the most congested interchanges in the world.

INTERRA provided quality assurance and materials testing services during the project which was worked on from October 2014 and completed in April 2017.

The new six unit 1,978 foot long structure was erected directly over the Kennedy, Dan Ryan, and Eisenhower Expressways. The structure includes a curved section of the bridge on a 540 foot radius requiring girders to hang over the expressways. The bridge is supported by 33 drilled shafts cored into bedrock and 31 piles which required fabrication and erection of 4.8 million pounds of structural steel with girders ranging to 90 deep and 189 feet long.

INTERRA served as a minority firm team member with GSG Consultants, R & G Engineering, Atlas Engineering, and Dynasty Group on the project.
