INTERRA, as a subconsultant to Gonzalez Companies, LLC, provided Quality Assurance Materials Testing and Construction Inspection services as requested for this IDOT contract located in the heart of Chicago. The project included the construction removal and reconstruction of bridge superstructure and lighting improvements for the 2-stage, 3-span 475’ long x 72’ wide Montrose Avenue bridge over the Kennedy and Edens Expressways. INTERRA performed testing and inspection of the concrete. Testing services included slump, air content, temperature, and casting cylinder specimens. INTERRA covered curbs, gutters, medians, sidewalks, bridge connectors, parapets, bridge deck, and pier caps. INTERRA also performed Phase III construction inspection and documentation services. Inspection services conducted by INTERRA included shear studs welded onto steel beams, reinforced steel bars throughout the bridge deck, approach footings, and approach concrete slabs. Quality checks of the project documentation and audit preparation checks were also completed.
