Materials Quality Assurance Inspection & Testing Services

IDOT, 61G73: 80th Avenue Reconstruction: Work for this current IDOT project included pavement reconstruction, both HMA and PCC pavement, storm sewer, culverts, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, lighting, and pavement markings on 80th Avenue from Greenway Boulevard to Timber Drive. The project also consisted of replacing the bridge carrying 80th Avenue over I-80 in the Village of Tinley Park in Will County. INTERRA collects soil samples and transports the samples to the INTERRA laboratory. INTERRA is conducting Proctor testing and compaction testing to verify the stability of the embankment.

INTERRA, Inc. has also provided Quality Assurance services in Will County and for Will County Department of Transportation projects for many years. Services have included material testing and inspection as well as geotechnical engineering.

Geotechnical Services

IDOT, Houbolt Road Diverging Diamond Interchange, Will County: For the Houbolt Road Diverging Diamond Interchange, INTERRA performed subsurface investigation including roadway and structure borings for the installation of retaining walls, box culverts, water main lines, and a bridge. Rock coring was also completed at various locations. Laboratory testing included moisture content tests and unconfined compressive strength tests, grainsize analysis, Atterberg limits and Illinois Bearing Ratio tests. The Structure Geotechnical Report (SGR) included foundation design recommendations for retaining walls, box culverts, and water main. The investigation was performed in accordance with IDOT Geotechnical Manual and the SGR was prepared in in accordance with IDOT Bridge Manual guidelines. In addition, a Roadway Geotechnical Report (RGR) was prepared for roadway improvements between I-80 and Route 6.

Cedar Road and Laraway Road Intersection Improvements, Will County: The Village of New Lenox funded project was completed matching IDOT guideline. Scope of project involved drilling, asphalt core testing, extensive geotechnical laboratory testing, geotechnical report preparation for roadway widening, intersection improvements, and traffic signal improvements. Modifications to roadway needed to be made due to expected heavy truck traffic.
